Why I Created Restore Body + Joint: A Different Approach to Chiropractic Care in Livermore

When I opened Restore Body + Joint in Livermore, I knew I didn’t want to create a traditional chiropractic office.
I wanted to build a place for people who want to keep moving, stay active, recover from injuries, and get back to doing the things they love.
I’m Dr. Stuart Frith, a chiropractor with more than a decade of experience working with patients ranging from competitive athletes and first responders to busy parents and weekend warriors. Over the years, one thing has become very clear to me: pain is often only part of the problem.
You really need to look at how the entire body is moving.
It’s Not Just About Where It Hurts
If your shoulder hurts when you play tennis, your knee bothers you when you squat, or your lower back tightens up every time you work out, it’s tempting to focus only on that one painful area.
But the source of the problem isn't always where you feel it.
Your mobility, strength, movement patterns, previous injuries, and the way different areas of your body work together can all play a role.
That’s why my approach at Restore Body + Joint goes beyond simply treating the area that hurts.
I want to know:
How are you moving?
What movements are difficult?
When did the problem start?
What activities are important to you?
And most importantly — what do you want to get back to doing?
For one person, that might mean playing competitive tennis. For someone else, it might mean getting back into CrossFit, hiking without knee pain, returning to work, keeping up with their kids, or simply waking up without feeling stiff. Your goals matter.
Chiropractic Care Is Only One Part of What I Do
Chiropractic adjustments can be a valuable tool, but they aren't the only tool I use.
Depending on the patient, a visit at Restore may include chiropractic care, soft-tissue work, mobility exercises, strength and movement assessment, rehabilitation, or other hands-on techniques.
One of the techniques I use frequently is the Fascial Distortion Model, or FDM.
Fascia is connective tissue found throughout the body. When someone is dealing with certain types of pain or movement restrictions, FDM gives me another way to evaluate what they’re feeling and use targeted hands-on techniques to address it.
Patients don't need to understand all of the terminology.
That’s my job.
Your job is to tell me what hurts, show me what you can't do comfortably, and tell me where you want to go from there.
Built for People Who Want to Move
If you walk into Restore Body + Joint, you'll probably notice pretty quickly that it doesn't look like a typical chiropractic office.
That's intentional.
We have an open movement and rehabilitation space with equipment you might expect to see in a performance or training facility because I want to be able to take patients beyond the treatment table.
Feeling better is important.
But I also want to see whether you can move better.
Can you squat?
Can you rotate?
Can you reach overhead?
Can you stabilize your shoulder?
Can you return to the movement that was giving you trouble in the first place?
Sometimes hands-on care is the right place to start. Other times we need to work on mobility, strength, or movement control. Most often, the best approach involves a combination.
You Don't Have to Be an Elite Athlete
I love working with athletes.
I've worked with people involved in tennis, cheer, soccer, CrossFit, weightlifting, martial arts, running, and other sports, and helping an athlete return to something they are passionate about is incredibly rewarding.
But you absolutely do not have to be an athlete to come to Restore.
Being able to move well matters whether you're trying to compete at a high level or simply want to stay active as you get older.
I work with people who want to:
Return to exercise after an injury
Improve mobility and flexibility
Address recurring aches and pains
Recover after demanding workouts
Move more comfortably at work
Stay active while managing the wear and tear that comes with an active lifestyle
Improve the way their body moves and performs
My goal isn't to tell you to stop doing everything you enjoy.
Whenever possible, I want to help you find a way to keep doing it.
A More Personal Approach to Care
One of the biggest reasons I created Restore Body + Joint was that I wanted enough time with my patients to actually evaluate, treat, and work through movement with them.
I don't believe every patient needs the exact same treatment.
And I don't believe every visit should look exactly the same.
Some days we may spend more time with hands-on treatment. Another visit may involve mobility work, rehabilitation, or testing a movement that has been bothering you.
Your treatment should evolve as you do.
Ultimately, I want patients to leave Restore understanding their bodies a little better than when they walked in.
Move Better. Feel Better. Live Better.
That phrase has become the foundation of Restore Body + Joint because it sums up exactly what I want this practice to be about.
Not chasing perfect posture.
Not telling you that you can never lift something heavy again.
Not simply getting you through today's discomfort.
I want to help you move better so you can continue living an active life.
If an injury, nagging pain, stiffness, or limited mobility has been keeping you from doing something you enjoy, I’d be happy to take a look.
